Frequently asked questions
Do I need council approval for a deck or pergola?
Many small, low decks and pergolas are exempt development in NSW, but height, size, distance to boundaries and bushfire zone all matter. We'll check your site and handle any approval needed.
What timber do you recommend?
For most homes we recommend a durable Australian hardwood such as spotted gum or merbau, or a composite board if you want minimal maintenance. We'll talk you through the options and costs.
Can you replace the boards on my old deck?
Often, yes. If the frame and footings are sound we can re-deck it, which costs much less than a full rebuild. We'll inspect it first and tell you honestly.
